I’ve recently swapped a 116610 for a newer and in much better shape 116610 and noticed some differences in the feel and function of the movement. For example the resistance when setting the time on the newer watch is noticeably stiffer than the older one. Rolex's automatic winding is completely silent, due to the winding rotor running on an oiled jewel, instead of a ball bearing. The 2892's thinness is also immediately noticed. The Bauhaus is the thinnest non-quartz watch I have seen. I raised an issue where the minute hands would not consistently hit the minute marker after 60 seconds revolution by the second hands. This happens a few hours after I've set the watch synced with the atomic time, perfectly position the minute hand to the minute marker. Based on my pristine experience with the 3135 and satisfactory experience with the 3235 (even if hit and miss), I trust Rolex and I have no doubt the source of the problem can be found and addressed, eventually.
Rolex pendulums run on ball bearings (or they did) and these bearings either wear away the race they run in or the race becomes damaged due to watch falls, causing the pendulum to acquire lateral/horizontal movement and this causes said rattling and scraping.
