Rolex ist für mich der Inbegriff der robusten Armbanduhr, Patek der Inbegriff der feinen und komplizierten Armbanduhr. Das ist natürlich nur meine Meinung. Mich würde interessieren, ob es Liebhaber gibt, die das ähnlich sehen? Rolex und Patek nehmen sich beide nicht viel. Die beiden Marken haben eine unterschiedliche Klientel, die ebenso wenig zu vergleichen ist. Rolex achtet auf hochwertige Qualität, die auf eine Art messbar ist. Clearly going to be a winner with the masses. But the metal ring, case symmetry with the pushers & guards ruins the balance for me a little. Still like it however, just currently prefer the original, maybe that will change.
Officially, Patek has asked "no Nautilus/Aquanaut" as a 1st watch. Aside of that, it's to the AD's will and "philosophy". If you are in a place with great purchase power, it's the wealthier who is placed at the top of the list. Firstly is the Rolex 116500LN (white face) which at the moment seems to be going for about GBP 17500. Secondly is the Patek Aquanaught 5167a, which is almost exactly the same price at the moment. Thoughts? Which one do you think might be a better buy.
I was in Boston last week for a business trip, and like usual, I looked for watch stores in the area. As is so happened, Long's Jewelers had just opened after remodeling for its new line, Patek Philippe, a week earlier. It was a short walk from my hotel, and when I got there I was warmly greeted. I read somewhere in the past but have not been able to since find something similar, that you cannot simply show up and purchase a Patek Philippe Watch, that apparently, they will decide whether you are worthy to purchase a Patek.
